Latin America

Hi. Your site mentions that you speak Spanish.

I did some work last year to document what's happening in Latin America. Here are the articles I wrote:

...but I didn't have the time or the linguistic ability to dig too deeply into it. The situation in Costa Rica seemed pretty worrying (see the two linked email threads), and a friend in Argentina told me (last year) that software patent legislation was coming. The situation in Mexico wasn't clear - some said the free trade agreement of the USA required software patents, other said it specifically avoided the issue.

As for Brazil, I didn't find much info at all, but given their economic weight it would be great if speaker of Portuguese could take a look.

I think the info I gathered contains some solid starting points for someone more capable, but only starting points.

I can read Spanish pretty well but I struggle to find key words for doing searches and I can't write in Spanish to contact local groups.Portuguese

So, welcome to en.swpat.org. Whether you're interested in this suggested topic or another topic, your contributions are very welcome. Ciaran 14:13, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
