Europe

In Europe, the main groupings for international or "European" patent law are:

European Patent Convention (EPC)
The EPC has 36 member countries, as of December 2009.[1]
European Union (EU)
The EU has 27 member states, as of December 2009.

Some countries that are geographically in Europe are not members of either of these groupings. Russia is one example.
