Linus Torvalds on software patents

Linus Torvalds is a software developer, mostly known for his work on the kernel Linux.

He is clearly against software patents when asked, but has only on a very small number of occasions used his position to help campaigns against software patents.

One exception was in 2003 when he co-signed a letter with Alan Cox to the European Parliament about the EU software patents directive.[1] Another was in November 2004 when he co-signed a similar letter to the EU Council of Ministers with Michael Widenius and Rasmus Lerdorf.[2]
