Florian Mueller on software patents

Revision as of 11:41, 20 October 2010 by Ciaran (talk | contribs) (Mueller had long been a controversial figure, drawing criticism from within campaigns against software patents. With his return in 2010, criticism by and of Mueller has increased.)

Florian Mueller lobbied against software patents in 2004 and 2005 in Europe during the EU software patents directive. He built the well-known campaign site NoSoftwarePatents.org (which he later handed to FFII). Mueller's anti-swpat lobbying work earned him various awards.[reference needed]

After the directive was cancelled, Mueller published his account of the overall campaign in the book No Lobbyists As Such.

In 2010, Mueller returned with a blog, "FOSS Patents", discussing software patents and other topics.

Mueller had long been a controversial figure, drawing criticism from within campaigns against software patents. With his return in 2010, criticism by and of Mueller has increased.

Mueller posts regularly (username FlorianMueller) to community forums such as Slashdot[1] and LWN.net.
