Chapitre II. Du brevet d'invention

SECTION 1er. DISPOSITIONS GÉNÉRALES
...
Art. 3. § 1er.

1) les découvertes ainsi que les théories scientifiques et les méthodes mathématiques;
2) les créations esthétiques;
3) les plans, principes et méthodes dans l'exercice d'activities intellectuelles, en matière de jeu ou dans le domaine des activités économiques, ainsi que les programmes d'ordinateurs;

Remarks on French wording

This is word for word the same as Article 52 of the European Patent Convention ((in French) art52), except for minor formalities ("patent" vs. "european patent", and the numbering of paragraphs).

Quoting Dutch version

Full, official text: Dutch original: 28 MAART 1984.

1) ontdekkingen alsmede natuurwetenschappelijke theorieën en wiskundige methoden;
2) esthetische vormgevingen;
3) stelsels, regels en methoden voor het verrichten van geestelijke arbeid, voor het spelen of voor de bedrijfsvoering, alsmede computerprogramma's;
4) presentatie van gegevens.

Remarks on Dutch wording

The wording in §1 is identical to the law of the Netherlands. The wording of §2 is different, but the "als zodanig" ("as such") is the same, which is probably the most substantial part.

Mini patents

Until January 2009, Belgium offered two types of patents. The normal 20 year patents, plus a 6 year variety. Since January 2009, only the 20-year variety are available.[1]
