USPTO 2010 guidelines

Hi. Thanks for reviewing the article about raising standards. You're probably right about me misunderstanding the effects of the 2010 USPTO guidelines. Now that I re-read the ipeg.eu article, I'm not so sure of my interpretation. As you pointed out, the 2010 are an update, not a replacement, but can you say what got updated (i.e. what change is at the base of ipeg.eu's claim that it will "give applicants greater opportunities to obtain allowance of claims.")? Also, if those four tests weren't deleted, why did ipeg.eu say about the 2010 guidelines that "In the 2010 Guidelines, however, only two of the new tests for obviousness appear to survive."?

I've also posed the question here:

If you could reply there (or by editing the article), that would be really helpful. Thanks. Ciaran 15:09, 7 November 2010 (EST)
